GENTRY — A citywide garage-sale event is being planned here Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 6, 7 and 8.

The sale is being promoted by the Main Street Gentry Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Gentry Courier-Journal. Gentry residents can participate in the citywide event and host a garage or yard sale for any or all days of the event.

A large Gentry map with listings of garage-sale locations will be published on a full page of the Gentry Courier-Journal the week of the event. The newspaper is offering a special discounted rate of only $10 for a full column-inch display ad with a border. All ads must be submitted and paid for by 11 a.m., Friday, May 30, in order to be included on the special page.

The Courier-Journal office is located at 103 N. Collins Street (across the street from the police department and immediately to the east of the Carl Gym). regular office hours are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Mondays and Fridays, and when not away covering stories and events on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

The city requires permits to hold garage sales within Gentry’s corporate limits, but the permits are available without charge at the city hall.

MSGCC is encouraging city residents to sell what they can and clean up the rest to make Gentry a cleaner, safer and more attractive town for those wishing to do business here or relocate to the area.
